Shown is a rare 1942 Colt Navy M1911A1 sn 796xxx. Only 3,982 pistols were issued directly to the Navy in 1942 in the serial number range 793658-797639. This example has the flaming bomb and G stamped on top of the frame, rare variation Coltwood plastic stocks, and large G-marked COLT 45 AUTO barrel. All 1942 Navy pistols were W.B. inspected and stamped. The example shown was shipped to the Officer in Charge, Naval Supply Depot, at Sewalls Point, VA on July 24, 1942.
