The CSR (Charles S. Reed) stamp is seen in two places on
the receiver: below the slide release and on top adjacent
to the disconnector. A "G" indicating government contract
is observed in 3 places: on top of the receiver, under the
rear of the slide, and the undeside of the barrel chamber.
Barrel is marked "Colt 45 Auto" laterally just above the
left lug. Slide has serial number matched to the frame, and
is marked "N" to identify new SAE 1035 steel (ref.
The earlier walnut wooden grips are present.
This example was one of a 500 pistol shipment to the
Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory Oct. 10, 1940.
