M1911A1 Blued RS-stamped Colt sn 728xxx
1941 Production

The pre-war Colts (1924, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940, and 1941 mfg.)
exhibit a striking brushed-blue finish. These pistols are highly
coveted by collectors due to their unique beauty and rarity.
Early RS-stamped (Robert Sears) pistols were blued; later RS-
stamped pistols after 734000 were routinely parkerized (ref.
Clawson).

This particular example is all correct with a very well-preserved
original brushed-blue finish. Blued barrel is stamped Colt .45 Auto
just above the left lug which carries a P proof mark. The underside
is stamped G representing government contract order. The Colt-
wood grips are hollow-backed without reinforcing ribs and are
numbered on the insides. Note the concave surface on the small
circles reinforcing the grip screws.
