Springfield Armory M1911 NRA-marked 1205xx
1916 Production

Shown is an NRA-marked Springfield Armory M1911 sn 1205xx.

In 1915, the National Rifle Association established a program with the
U.S. government that allowed NRA members to purchase 1911 pistols at
discount. Such pistols, manufactured by Springfield Armory and Colt
in very limited number, carried the N.R.A. mark on the right side of
the receiver, and were sold to life members and members of affiliated
clubs at $16 each. The exact number of NRA-marked Springfields is not
precisely known, but is estimated to be in the range of 100 or so.
