Colt Transition Model 7008xx
1924 Production


Here is a 1924 Transition Model with the early single-circled
WTG stamp. Initially labeled the "Improved Model of 1911",
the pistols were not designated M1911A1's until 3 years
later in a retroactive nomenclature change. Distinguishing
features which first appeared in Transitions became common
to the M1911A1 (ref. Clawson):
